Agent drift detection

Agent drift detection is the comparison of what each machine actually runs — the instruction files on its disk, the assets in its tools — against the approved canonical versions, with divergence flagged rather than silently tolerated.

Detection is a read problem

Drift cannot be detected from the deployment log, because a successful write says nothing about the current state. Detection means reading the fleet: hashing local files, listing platform assets, and diffing against the approved set.

We maintain agent-drift, a small dependency-free scanner that finds the instruction files on a machine and reports copies and distinct versions per document — the measurement layer of drift detection.
